Maillon 7MM and is the long type which we recommend for using as a lower off on bolted routes. This type is best as it is CE rated and tested and with it being the long opening type it is easy to get the rope in and if used correctly there is no chance of the maillon unscrewing itself and failing. We recommend carrying 2 of these and the spare can be used to tightly lock the gate shut by using it as a spanner and this also reduces the chances of the gate coming open.
Bar thickness is only 7MM but will hold 25KN and a cross load of 10KN.
Smaller sizes are not CE rated and if you are lowering off just one then you want it to hold!
